The imposing building of Van Gelder, right next to Van der Valk Ridderkerk, is not to be missed and from this week there is a good reason to stop there. Van Gelder has launched the webshop www.versbestellen.nl especially for hobby chefs, which means that not only the catering industry has access to the largest assortment of fruit and vegetables in the Netherlands.
The family business with there roots in Ridderkerk also wants to be there for cooking and convenience enthusiasts, says company manager Demis van Kouwen. “We regularly receive requests from private individuals who are looking for products that they cannot find in the supermarket. Van Gelder has the largest assortment of fruit and vegetables in the Netherlands in Ridderkerk, and regardless of budget or taste preference, everyone can come to us. ” By way of illustration, Demis lists a number of categories from which to choose: "edible flowers, mini vegetables, special mushrooms, a net of tangerines or other related fruit and vegetable products."
For Christmas, according to Van Kouwen, you can also think of a beautiful Italian truffle to make the menu extra festive. In addition to a restaurant experience, you will soon also have fruit and vegetables of catering quality in your own kitchen.
At Van Gelder, more and more emphasis is placed on fresh and delicious food. Ease of ordering and healthy food are the most important ingredients. Van Gelder notices that the food experience on the home market is also playing an increasingly important role. This is also the case with Siebe van Ineveld, operational director at CloudSuite, who had the honor of being the first to test the concept and thus being able to sample Van Gelder's products at home.
"I love to be in the kitchen," says Siebe, but this professional home cook quickly ran into the fact that he doesn't have access to all the ingredients he gets on his plate when he goes out to dinner. "It is still unclear whether the catering industry can receive guests during Christmas and I would like to enjoy all the goodies that the chef normally prepares for us at home. That is why Van Gelder's new webshop is a real godsend, ”says Siebe.
The new webshop can also offer a solution for questions such as what to eat tonight, because customers can also go to the shop for inspiration, tips, information and kitchen advice. “You can chat with employees of Van Gelder and we already have a number of nice recipes for Christmas on it," Van Kouwen reveals.
Consumers can pick up their groceries in the Experience Center at Van Gelder on the Krommeweg. Due to the corona measures, the trial center in the Experience Center is temporarily closed, but a collection point has been set up where customers can pick up their groceries ordered online.
Van Gelder has a spacious floor space, so that the guidelines from the RIVM are guaranteed and customers can pick up their shopping in a pleasant and safe setting.
